Walt Disney Pictures just announced in a press release that Lucasfilm will be rolling out ‘Find the Force’ as the Force Friday II promotion ahead of its third Disney/Lucasfilm Star Wars installment and eighth episode, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The pop-up AR (augmented reality) promo commemorates the launch of the film’s new fan merchandise while allowing them to be uber geeks. It’s an interactive sharing/shopping extravaganza with an opportunity to win tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere in December.
Looking for all the latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailers, images, and posters?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the next segment of the Star Wars franchise following standalone film, Rouge One. It hits theaters December 15th, 2017. (And if you don’t know what Star Wars is, you should go back into the cave you’ve been in for the last twenty years and keep carving strikes).
About Find the Force – Force Friday II
Lucasfilm announced today its Find the Force promotion which invites fans across thirty countries from September 1-3 into 20,000 retailers worldwide to battle the dark side while shopping for their favorite new fan toys. And what’s my favorite fan toy? LEGO! (Read further down for a complete list of all the LEGO Star Wars Episode 8 Kits).
Think Pokemon Go in a galaxy far, far away. You scan, you see characters that aren’t there, and you get to take photos and video to share on social media. It’s described as a “pop-up AR (augmented reality) treasure hunt”. In other words, it’s the coolest shopping day, like ever. Plus you can return each day for new characters and surprise add ins.
Here’s How it Works:
- Download the Star Wars App (if you have it update it)
- Look for the “Find the Force” graphic logo in participating stores
- See pop up characters that you can take photos and video with to share on social media using the #FindtheForce #ForceFridayII and #Sweepstakes hashtags on Twitter and Instagram
- When you use #Sweepstakes you are entering to win
- Return each day for new characters (15 in total) September 1 – 5
Practical Tips
Make sure you’re on wi-fi or super good 4G. Download your app and the Find the Force download at your house where your connection is best (or over a good wi-fi connection). It will take a few minutes.
LEGO Star Wars Episode 8 Kits for Find the Force Force Friday II
Resistance Transport Pod™ (RRP: $29.99 USD, $39.99 CAD)
Get Finn, Rose and BB-8 in this kit. A great under $30 buy for LEGO.
First Order Heavy Scout Walker™ (RRP: $49.99 USD, $64.99 CAD)
Super cool, give the walker a push and see the crawling legs start to move! When you spot the enemy, raise the spring-loaded shooters and get ready to fire! This kit comes with a Resistance Trooper, a First Order Gunner, General Hux, and a First Order Flametrooper!
Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter™ (RRP: $79.99 USD, $99.99 CAD)
Loving the Kylo Ren, Stormtrooper, BB-9E and Tie Pilot mini figs. The TIE Fighter looks awesome in LEGO too.
BB-8™ (RRP: $99.99 USD, $129.99 CAD)
Own your very own LEGO® BB-8! Turn the wheel to spin the head and turn another to open the hatch and see the welding torch pop out, just like it did in the movie! You can also sit BB-8 on the stand so you can show your friendly droid to all your friends when they come to visit!
Resistance Bomber (RRP: $109.99 USD, $139.99 CAD)
Five minifigs include Resistance bomber pilot, Resistance bombardier, Vice Admiral Holdo, Resistance Gunner Paige, and POE Dameron.
First Order Assault Walker™ (RRP: $149.99 USD, $169.99 CAD)
The First Order Heavy Assault Walker might be my personal favorite. You can fire the head-mounted spring-loaded shooters and take aim with the rapid-fire stud shooter on top. Minifigs include a First Order Stormtrooper, a First Order Walker Driver, Captain Poe, a Resistance Trooper and Rey.
First Order Star Destroyer™ (RRP: $159.99 USD, $179.99 CAD)
This First Order Star Destroyer is amazing and one I would have to build once and put on display. The minifigs include BB-9E, Supreme Leader Snoke, a First Order Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper Sargeant, a First Order Shuttle Pilot and a First Order Officer.
Elite TIE Fighter Pilot™ (RRP: $19.99 USD, $24.99 CAD)
This TIE Fighter has a spring-loaded blaster rifle. Loving the scale for collections.
Rey (RRP: $24.99 USD, $29.99 CAD)
This buildable action Rey comes with a blue lightsaber!
Elite Praetorian Guard (RRP: $24.99 USD, $29.99 CAD)
Everything about Supreme Leader Snoke’s Elite Praetorian Guard is epic! The 2-bladed staff with lasers can be made into 2 smaller weapons.
Chewbacca™ (RRP: $34.99 USD, $44.99 CAD)
I have to have this! If you have Wookie fever you’ll want this one for sure, and a good buy under $35!
