We have some really high hopes for this one! We’re excited to see familiar faces return and meet some new friends (and foes!). And of course, Thor is always easy to look at. But apart from all that, one look at this trailer and you’ll see it screams “EPIC”. But Thor has a much more special place than just the big screen for us.

Why is Thor Such a Special Hero?

Thor has a very special place in The Fairytale Traveler world because “Thor”, as in the mythical God (according to Norse Mythology)/demi-god (according to Marvel) is the only hero who has transcended ancient myth into big screen pop culture.

You can’t go to Norway and find a Captain America stone carved 5,000 years ago in his name. Nope, not gonna happen. Likewise for every other Marvel Studios big screen hero. But, you can find places in Norway where the legends of Thor, Odin, Loki, Valkyrie, and Asgard live on. Legends told by ancient people in a place where the sky lights up like a rainbow bridge to Asgard.

Official Trailer

Here in the Official Trailer we see a little more comedic relief from Thor which I thoroughly enjoy in MARVEL films. We also see a little bit more of Hela’s wrath. Things still seem pretty well aligned with the origins of Thor’s Norse myths. I love that. Basically, this seems like it’s going the be the most EPIC Thor yet.

Teaser Trailer

So let’s talk about this trailer. Here are the most important things we see in this teaser, the nutshell version:

  • Thor wakes up in Hel (Hela’s world) she’s the supervillain played by Cate Blanchett. Sidenote: WIN for that casting! She’s also (according to Norse Myth) the daughter of Loki.
  • Hela completely evaporates Thor’s mighty hammer WTH?
  • We see Hela with the traditional headpiece from the comics. YES!
  • Valkyrie’s origin story comes in, of the ancient Norse Mythology variety. WAY COOL!
  • Hela sends Asgard into a blaze of fire.
  • We see the Incredible Hulk’s planet, Sakaar where he’s been since he left the Avengers.
  • Thor gets his hair cut off. NO. Just No. He also gets his face painted and a cool helmet and armor very true to the comics. LEGIT.
  • Heimdall is seen
  • Green smoke #teamHulk?

YEEESSSSS! We know each other, he’s a friend from work!”
