Episode Two of Vikings Season 4 on the History Channel

Tonight we watched the second episode of the History Channel’s fourth season of Vikings. The opening scene shows Bjorn making a tiresome trek through a snow-covered forest and into a blizzard until he reached a Viking wood-framed cottage.

As soon as I saw this scene, I immediately thought of Lofoten in winter. We know Vikings settled here, and at Lofotr Viking Museum you can experience the Viking Age as it really was. In Borg, Archaeologists have discovered the largest Viking longhouse ever found from the Viking Age. At 272 feet long, it’s been reconstructed as a Viking Museum.

In the warmer months, you can go hiking, skiing, fishing, ocean rafting or scuba diving. Lofoten is also one of Norway’s best sites for surfing, and one of the world’s northernmost. The midnight sun in the summer months will let you experience things like golfing at midnight while the dark winter skies bring the allure of the magnificent Northern Lights.
