Be the King of the Castle

Ballyseede Castle Hotel Feels Like Home

The very first thing that stood out to me about Ballyseede Castle Hotel was the way it felt like home. Now I had never been there before, and I by no means have ever called a castle home (well not since I was about five in my mother’s attic), but there was feeling that immediately warmed me from the heart out when I entered this place.

Sure, the grounds are immaculate, with every blade of grass intact, and its ivy-covered exterior is commanding of anyone approaching from its winding path, but the inside…The inside is just stunning! Antiques collected by the owners Rory and Marnie O’Sullivan line the corridor to the elegantly furnished grand sitting rooms. Family photos sit on tabletops, and fireplaces burn only drawing you into the warmth that this place exudes.

The staff is as friendly as family, always smiling and ever-ready to lend a hand. Tim the resident bartender in Pappy’s Bar will be sure to give you an earful of tall tales about the castle, its history, and even its dark legends. The guests were also very friendly. I met a family that returns to this castle every year from Chicago because they love it so much. Just another reason this place felt so warm and inviting.
