Puss in Boots is one of those fairy tales that has traveled time, centuries for that matter. It’s one of the ‘greats’ of fairy tale literature. I won’t get into the academics of it, but the tales of a feline trickster can be uncovered all the way to the fifth century Panchatantra (lit. “Five Principles”), a collection of Hindu tales. One in particular is regarding a cat who attempts to make his fortune in a king’s palace.
From here we see the famed feline dash his way into the hearts of famous fairy tale authors such as; Charles Perrault, Giovanni Francesco Straparola and even the Grimm Brothers. Shoot, even Tchaikovsky used an adaptation of Puss in Boots in his third act of, The Sleeping Beauty.

About the Story
