Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Atlanta, GA

When we talk about some of the most advanced stadiums in the world, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium falls right in this category.

It is a construction masterpiece designed with soccer in mind. This stadium quickly became a hot spot for different sports including soccer with the MLS’s Atlanta United getting into the big scene in 2017.

The exterior of the stadium is breathtaking and it looks like a futuristic origami with a large circular opening at the top and a massive video board in the mid-field.

SoFi Stadium – Inglewood, CA

Here we have another newly constructed state-of-the-art stadium that presents the home for both Rams and Chargers from the NFL league and it is one of the most expensive stadiums ever constructed.

For starters, the SoFi Stadium has a huge capacity allowing more fans to experience the magic of a World Cup match and it is one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world.

The SoFi Stadium also has a beautiful glass roof bringing a lot of natural daylight, and a unique video board in an oval shape giving fans a much closer look of the action.

Since we are talking about a relatively new stadium, it still hasn’t hosted a soccer match, but there is plenty of action lined up for this summer in order to prepare for the World Cup.

The SoFi stadium also became an Olympic Stadium and will host the 2028 Opening and Closing ceremonies.

Hard Rock Stadium – Miami Gardens – FL

We cannot make a list of the best stadiums in North America and not include the much-loved, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

This may not be the most technologically advanced stadium in the lot, but it sure holds an amazing spirit making games even more exciting to watch.

The Hard Rock Stadium opened its doors in 1987, and it has been renovated in 2015. The Hard Rock Stadium is also designed with soccer in mind.

In its original form, the stadium was intended to hose soccer just because of its wider-than-normal field.

The stadium could have been included in the 1994 World Cup but due to hosting MLB’s Florida Marlins matches it was canceled.

After the renovations, the stadium is completely transformed and will be a beautiful home for the cheering fans in the summer of 2026.

It is unknown if this will be the final venue, although most people expect it to be the MetLife Stadium in New York.

Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia -PA

This stadium is located in the South of Philly Sports Complex and has great views of the city skyline of its northern zone.

This should be a fine host for a soccer match, especially since the stadium meets all the requirements for a professional soccer match.

This won’t be the first-time soccer enters through the doors of Lincoln Financial Field. In fact, we’ve seen many soccer giants, including Manchester United and FC Barcelona playing here.

Also, the Lincoln Financial Field hosted the 2016 Copa America Centenario several times.

Lumen Field -Seattle – WA

When it comes to creating the ultimate atmosphere for the 2026 World Cup, Lumen Field might be the perfect stadium for the job.

Lumen Field is known for creating an incredible atmosphere and at one point it holds the Guinness World Record for the loudest stadium in the world.

This is the home of the Sounders and made a habit out of playing in larger NFL stadiums due to soccer field requirements.

However, once they moved from USL 2009 and shattered MLS attendance records, the whole investment was very much worth it.

AT&T Stadium – Arlington – TX

Speaking about the most expensive stadiums in the world, the AT&T sports venue is the perfect match for this category.

One of the best things about the AT&T stadium is the massive capacity of seats and extremely large video board.

This is one of the biggest stadiums that will host a 2026 World Cup match with a capacity of 100,000 cheering fans.

Can you imagine 100,000 screaming fans watching a soccer match? It will be an iconic sporting event that will get everyone excited, even viewers from home.

The AT&T Stadium also has the largest HDTV screen in the world (at the time of the installation) bringing the soccer action closer to the fans.

The AT&T Stadium is often picked for many sports just because of its high capacity. In 2010, the AT&T stadium hosted an NBA All-Star game with 108,713 people watching the game.

This set the world record for the highest basketball game attendance. Additionally, this incredible stadium is a frequent stop for Mexico on their tours of the US, in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

world cup

NRG Stadium – Houston – TX

Even though this stadium was built for the NFL’s recent expansion team, the Huston Texans, it is a great place for soccer, especially the World Cup.

The NRG Stadium opened its doors back in 2002 and quickly made a name for itself in the soccer nation hosting many international soccer matches with some of the biggest teams in the world like Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich.

However, the NRG Stadium owners decided to go for artificial turf in 2015, making it an open discussion about its capabilities of hosting a World Cup match.

If they do want to switch back to natural grass until the World Cup, the glass roof will be a massive help allowing the right amount of natural sunlight to come through.

If it does happen, the NRG Stadium will have one of the best atmospheres out of all soccer games.
