If your idea of a good time includes seeing the latest Superman movie, dressing in cosplay, going to Comic-Con, or playing Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 on the Xbox One S then Columbus is just the place for you. In this city, you will find many comic book stores with cool events and selections that make them worth visiting while you’re in the city. Here are some of the best comic book stores in Columbus.
The Best Comic Book Stores in Columbus
Laughing Ogre Comics
If you ask a local for a recommendation for a comic store, the consensus, for the most part, is that Laughing Ogre Comics is the place to go. The owner knows just about everything there is to know about comics, and if he doesn’t, he’s more than willing to find out. The staff members are also knowledgeable, and the selection is amazing with both mainstream finds as well as independent publishers and back issues.
The team provides their picks a few times a month on the store’s website which can help you find a new favorite comic book. The store’s Facebook page offers news about new comics that are coming out as well as TV shows and movies such as the new “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which is based on Archie Comics and coming soon to Netflix. There are also special happenings throughout the year, so check out their events list to see if anything unique is happening during your visit.

Another great option is Packrat Comics. This place has a large selection including back issues kept in the basement. Here you’ll find a bin full of issues that only cost $1. New issues come from many publishers, so you’re sure to find what you’re looking for here.
When you go to Packrat Comics, feel free to ask for help from the staff. They really know what they’re talking about! This is exemplified by the fact that they won the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award in 2015. This is given to retailers who do an outstanding job supporting the comic art medium.
The store hosts events throughout the year along with sessions where they teach you how to play some of the games they sell. If you want to get a hotel room near this comic store, find a long list of Columbus hotels at HotelPlanner.com.
Comic Town
Though there are plenty of superhero comics at Comic Town, you can also find lots of non-superhero selections to fill out your collection. The staff members know their stuff, and there are sessions throughout the week where you can play Magic the Gathering, Dragon Ball Super, and Dungeons and Dragons. Some events, such as card tournaments, cost money while others are free.
With many activities throughout the week, it’s a great place to find other like-minded people to socialize with. If you’re just in town for the week, bring along your cards and head on over for some great competition.
These are just three of the comic book stores in Columbus. Check out a few while you’re in Columbus and decide for yourself which store is the best in the city. Looking for more Nerd News? Check out what I’ve been doing with Marvel!
