When looking for a luxury hotel in Düsseldorf there is no reason to look any further than the Breidenbacher Hof. This Capella Hotel is by far on of the classiest, most elegant and luxurious properties I have ever been to. From its curbside valet to its en suit technology, it could very well be the finest hotel in all of Germany.
I recently had the absolute pleasure of spending three nights in this fairytale hotel. Let me tell you, I’ve seen my fair share of hotel properties of the luxury variety. Having spent four years working for a world-famous brand, I know a thing or two about luxury standards. In fact, I’m downright spoiled.
My Breidenbacher Hof Review – The Finest Luxury Hotel in Dusseldorf
The Breidenbacher Hof exceeded all my expectations over and over again. There’s a little term we say in the industry called “the wow factor”. Ideally, a luxury property should always aim to “wow” their guests. I was “wowed” not once, not twice, but more times than I can even remember. That is how refined this company is. Here are all the ways this luxury hotel in Düsseldorf “wowed” me.
Curbside Valet
If ever you need to gauge a hotel, start with the service. All things aside, nothing is worse than bad service. The Breidenbacher Hof has impeccable service which begins with your door opening as curbside valet greets you by name.
Checking In
Make no mistake, when you stay at a luxury hotel it is expected the front of house staff greet you by name, a measure taken flawlessly by the Breidenbacher Hof team. Upon check-in I was greeted with smiles and perfect English, then given a tour on the way to my decadent Capella Suite. The tour included a walkthrough of the Capella Living Room, Capella Bar & Cigar Lounge and the Lobby Lounge (all of which I will cover later).
My Fabulous Fairytale Capella Suite
I was already quite impressed with the level of service and attention to detail offered by Capella brand name. The decor and quality were beyond lavish and fitting for a luxury hotel in Dusseldorf. I, however, did not expect such an incredible space once I was invited to my Capella Suite.
I think this video will best describe the elegance found in the Capella Suite:
I was completely surprised when I found that my home for the next three nights had not only a living room but a sectional sofa, wall mounted flat screen in both the living room and bedroom, wall-panel and nightstand controlled curtains, lights and temperature as well as built-in charging stations in the nightstand. Panoramic views overlooking Düsseldorf commanded my attention as well in both the living room and bedroom.
Perhaps one of my favorite rooms was the massive marble and wood grain bathroom complete with a jetted / LED hot tub, built-in mirror television, bidet and rain shower. Honestly, I wish I never left.
Things to do at the Hotel
I loved just walking around this stunning hotel. The Lobby Lounge, Capella Bar & Cigar Lounge and Capella Living Room were all very inviting and well decorated. I spent a good bit of time in all three really. With a love for whiskey and cigars, it was easy to wander into the Cigar Lounge at night. During the day I wandered around taking photos and having tea. It was so lovely, I decided to spend a day just at the hotel.
There is, of course, a spa and gym with a lovely pool. If I had more time I would have spent a day in there. Maybe next time!
Dining at Breidenbacher Hof
I tried both breakfast and lunch at the Brasserie 1806. Few breakfasts where I have stayed have come close to this one. There were many things to choose from, and of course mimosas! Lunch was also amazing. Highly recommend both. I had breakfast in my room twice as well. I just couldn’t resist a lazy morning in. Everything was served on time and of course, delicious.
About the Location
This was my first time in Düsseldorf so I was pretty excited to get into the city and explore. I loved that Breidenbacher Hof was right in the center of everything. Just down the street a beautiful river with lovely bridges, the best names in fashion stores and more restaurants/cafes than I could count. There was no shortage of things to do within walking distance from the hotel. Really, it was a perfect location next to King’s Avenue (Königsallee).
I was “wowed” over and over again at what I would say is the finest luxury hotel in Düsseldorf. The staff, rooms, food, and location exceeded my expectations many times. I always say, “hospitality cannot be taught, it is something you’re born with.” The staff at Breidenbacher Hof was born to be hospitable, and that is what makes a luxury hotel stand apart from the rest. If you’re looking for high-end luxury in Düsseldorf, this is the only place I would recommend. Well done Breidenbacher Hof, I hope we meet again!
