I’m so ready for a new Disney princess in my life. Sure, I love all of the old and classic favorites, but the newest and probably most exciting princess to come from Disney will hit the big screen in a few short months: MOANA. This fierce, intelligent, Polynesian princess looks like she may just be my favorite of all.
Ever since we first got word about this movie, I’ve been so excited to see more. Disney just released the first teaser trailer for MOANA and it definitely does not disappoint.
MOANA Official US Teaser Trailer
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”).
Disney has seriously been killing it with all of their latest movie releases and I just know MOANA is going to be the latest animated classic that all of us princess lovers have been hoping for. Not only is Moana adventurous and fun, but I love that she clearly isn’t all that impressed with the initial bravado of Maui, showing that she doesn’t need a prince (or god) to help save her day. She may just be the greatest Disney princess to date!
MOANA sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
