Okay so if you haven’t heard, Executive Producer M. Night Shyamalan put out this all new Sci-Fi thriller series called, Wayward Pines starring  Matt Dillon, Terrence Howard, Carla Gugino and Shannyn Sossamon. It’s brand new this year and I flippin love it.

So far Wayward Pines is pretty, well… wayward

Wayward Pines started out weird and moved consistently into weirder as the episodes progress. Just when I thought it was predictable, the plot threw a whole new spin in and left me stumped and super glad I use Hulu so I could stream into the next episode.

Currently I am on episode 7 of season 1 and things are starting to really get wonky in this post-apocalyptic, blast into the future, everything is sketch mcgetch series. So far it’s moved pretty fast which makes me wonder just what other craziness M. Night Shyamalan and writer Blake Crouch have in store for us.

Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines Synopsis

So the show starts out with Matt Dillon (which is awesome cause I haven’t seen much from him since he was the creepy stalker dude in Something About Mary), who plays the role of a secret service agent looking for two missing agents. One of which he had an affair on his wife with (Shannon Sossamon) and the other who starts the series as a dead man rotting and bound to a bed in some sketchy forest shack.

Dillon finds himself in a hospital after a car accident in Wayward Pines (of course Wayward Pines being the sketchiest place in the history of sketchy places). He’s met by a crazy, freako nurse, an egotistical sheriff (Terrence Howard), his former secret service partner / once lover (Carla Gugino) and a slew of lies leading him in circles.

Did he really have a car accident?

Did they drug him?

Is his mind having a psychotic breakdown?

And the plot totally thickens…

When Dillon says, “I’m getting the eff outta dodge” he soon finds out, there is no way out. He spends several days trying desperately to find a way out of Wayward Pines but every attempt either leaves him back where he started, or in danger. All leave him more unanswered questions.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, his wife thinks he’s bailed on her again to be with his former lover. So she and their teenaged son hit the road to hunt him down only to find themselves in the same situation. Except now, everyone is together in this twisted, sci-fi thriller.

I don’t want to ruin it for you…

You’ll have to check this one out on your own. There’s no doubt this is going to be a favorite among many. You can start by watching the trailer here:

Keep following my new mommy time out series…

Sometimes mom needs a time out, and when I do I just grab some wine, cheese, strawberries and dark chocolate and binge watch my favorite shows. There’s no way in hiznell I can keep up with cable when I’m globetrotting, so I catch up on Hulu or Netflix and zone out (and of course share it with you).

What do YOU think about Wayward Pines? I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments below!

  1. I’m really into the show too! It definitely keeps getting weirder. I have SO many questions! There are only 3 eps left in the season so I’m hoping we get a little bit of closure on things!
