If you’re going skiing in 2015, then it is already likely that you’ll be acutely aware of just  how much packing and preparation you’ll need in order to make the trip a success. For many, going on a skiing holiday is a once in a lifetime adventure, and one that takes many years of planning, advice and saving. Due to this, you want it to be as memorable as possible.

To make sure you’re stylish and warm, we’ve but together this handy guide on ‘getting the look’, so you know you’ll be dressed practically for the fun. Read on to find out more.

Insulated Jackets

Temperatures in ski resorts vary hugely, but as you’d expect, it is almost universally cold. A brief look of ski dedicated weather websites can give you an accurate forecast for your time there, so you’ll know what level of cold and wind to expect. No matter what, an insulated jacket is essential. This will protect you from any level of cold that the slopes might be willing to throw at you.

Plus, because it’s padded, if you take a tumble (as most new skiers do), it’ll give you a little bit of added protection too. The good thing about insulated jackets is that they’re also in fashion right now, so when you return it’ll also look good on the high street.

Base Layers

Layers, layers, layers: that’s what you need when you hit the slopes. Layers are the perfect way to trap your body heat in and stop it escaping, with base layers being the best way to achieve this goal. Base layers form a tight layer against the skin, trapping in the warmth and making sure that you’re not too cold when you hit the slopes.

Accessories

Once you’re all layered up, you’ll need to protect your extremities. Although the rumour that we lose 80% of body heat through our heads in urban legend, keeping your head, ears and hands warm is essential; especially as you’ll have to focus and balance. Due to this, make snow hats and gloves the first thing you pack. That way, you’ll maintain feeling and grip while on the mountain. Thick snow socks won’t go a miss either.

Of course, all this extra clothing comes at an additional expense, but it is important to remember that this is the holiday of a lifetime; so the extra splurge can be useful, making a big difference. Comfort and practicality are essential while you’re on the slopes, otherwise you won’t enjoy the holiday. Fortunately, almost everything you need is available from online stockists like e-outdoor, so you won’t even have to leave your own home. Happy shopping.
