It’s no secret, Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios had a pretty stellar year with Captain America, the Winter Soldier, Maleficent, Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6, and the just-released Into the Woods. My head was on a swivel between my computer screen and the big screen. These movies were more than good flicks, they were top-notch, record-breaking, go back and watch again, awesome.
Now that the blood is slowly returning to my head, it’s time to have a look at the upcoming Disney movies for 2015. Before we do that though, let’s recap shall we, all the goodies from 2014.
Captain America, the Winter Soldier

Captain America, the Winter Soldier starring the hunktastic Chris Evans (wait, I’m fanning my face…God he’s cray hot), made a giant $713,846,958 in world-wide box office cheddar and an additional $47,712,536 in domestic DVD / Blu-Ray sales. Do the math, that’s a freakin lot of Mula. Get it online at the Disney Movie Club.
Maleficent

The Sleeping Beauty adaptation, Maleficent, starring the film goddess Angelina Jolie came in with a heavy $751,407,328, beating Captain America (fairy tales always trump superheroes, sorry boys). Adding to this mega win is $57,651,990 in domestic DVD / Blu-ray sales. Get it online at the Disney Movie Club.
Guardians of the Galaxy

If you think those numbers are huge you’re going to faint when you read this. Guardians of the Galaxy starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper (with co-stars John C. Reilly and
Glenn Close), killed it in the box office with a fat $770,862,030 in worldwide sales, making it the number two movie of 2014 (just behind Paramount’s Transformers, Age of Extinction which sucked mega ass).
If you didn’t see Guardians of the Galaxy, you messed up. Grab your keys and buy it (or look for it in the Disney Movie Club), it’s that awesome. I saw it three times in the theater. No lie. (Domestic DVD and Blu-ray sales not yet published).
Big Hero 6

The animated Big Hero Six made a mega $320,984,063 in worldwide box office sales. This movie was by far the Little’s favorite animated film of 2014. He’s still trying to convince me that Disney will send him a chip for the Baymax he made out of a garbage bag. He’s waiting ha! You can also get this on the Disney Movie Club website.
Into the Woods

Last but not least the fairytale film, Into the Woods, starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Christine Baranski, and Tracey Ullman just opened in theaters on Christmas Day and has already seen $48,841,663 in worldwide box office sales. Look for it on the Disney Movie Club website in 2015.
Can we all say it together… “Killer year Disney and Marvel” please, keep it coming!
Okay, so the moment you’ve all been waiting for for……(drumroll)

Among these the Fairytale Traveler favourites are (in random order):
Strange Magic January 23, 2015

Of all the upcoming Disney movies for 2o15, this has to be the most anticipated animated film, and man are we excited about this one! Strange Magic is an all-new animated fairy tale by Lucasfilm, Ltd. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, it’s complete with a cast of proper fairy tale goblins, elves, fairies and imps that come together for a collection of musical misadventures born from a battle over a powerful potion.
The Jungle Book October 9, 2015

From the director of Chef, Iron Man and Elf comes the retelling of Rudyard Kipling’s classic adventure tale that’s been a favorite over decades, the Jungle Book. This is my second most anticipated animated film for the upcoming Disney movies of 2015. Director Jon Favreau remakes this timeless story inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” which is an all-new adventure about Mowgli the man-cub who’s been raised by wolves and who struggles to find his place in the kingdom. The new Jungle Book movie stars the voices of Scarlett Johannsson and Christopher Walken.
Cinderella March 13, 2015

Some fairy tales just never grow old. The all-new Cinderella is a live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” bringing to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation. Starring Cate Blanchett, Lily James, Richard Madden, Stellan Skarsgård, Holliday Grainger, Derek Jacobi, and Helena Bonham Carter.
Ant-Man July 17, 2015

This has to be the year for nerdom. The lineup for upcoming Disney movies between Marvel and LucasFilms, Ltd., is off the hook. Here we have the next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” when master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. We are uber stoked about the Ant-Man addition to the big screen and can’t wait to see Paul Rudd’s performance. Directed by Peyton Reed.
Avengers Age of Ultron May 1, 2015

Brace yourselves for the followup to the epic superhero movie of all time. Earth’s most resilient and bravest heroes come together once again in an epic battle to save the planet. Watch Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, as they are put to the ultimate hero test yet again in their battle with villainous Ultron.
