I’m always happy to review products which will make my job easier. The XShot GoPro Pole caught my attention because it not only offers a wider range for shooting with the GoPro, but it’s cellphone adaptable too. As a busy blogger I look for smarter ways to get the job done. This means making sure I have the best equipment. Of course ‘best’ is relative, but there are certainly some key points I think every blogger needs to hit when sourcing their professional needs.

So does it live up? I tested the XShot GoPro Pole for durability, ease of use, mobility (is it easy to travel with) and overall value. Here are my thoughts.

Durability

The XShot GoPro Pole is certainly durable. Here are the product specs on it:

  • Twist-locking Shaft with Quick Release
  • Salt-Water Resistant Hard Anodized Aluminum Shaft (ATSM B117-11)
  • Anodized Aluminum Thumbscrew
  • Anodized Aluminum Lock Ring Fixtures & Tether Point
  • Reinforced Polycarbonate GoPro®
  • Extra Sports Camera Tether Points for Added Security
  • Adjustable Paracord Lanyard
  • Water Drainage Port for Easy Cleaning
  • Textured Non-Slip Grip
  • 1/4” Accessory Mount on Bottom of Handle
  • Works with Any Camera type or Phone

You could drop kick this thing down a flight of stairs and it’s still going to hold steady. It’s made for the advantageous breed of bloggers.

Ease of Use

I bypassed the directions (because I’m too lazy really) and I had no problem figuring out how to use the XShot GoPro Pole. It quickly and easily switched from GoPro to my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 without a hitch.

Mobility

I took it to Ireland with me for the St. Patrick’s Day Festival and it was totally easy to cart around. It’s super lightweight similar to polycarbonate sheets (which makes those long days of filming a breeze), and really easy to pack.

Overall Value

In comparison to other professional equipment, I think the price point is fairly inexpensive at $55. I actually thought it was $99. Professionals pay for quality because of heavy use and longevity. You’re getting your money’s worth for sure.

My Advice

I like it! I’m actually going to use my GoPro a lot more now that I have the XShot GoPro Pole. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get a professional angle on their footage. And if you’re looking for a great editing program, I love Photoshop Elements .

I received the XShot GoPro Pole for free from Deep Creek as coordinated by Outdoor PR in consideration for review publication.

  1. I have the same pole (an earlier version) and I do like it to a point. I am not 100% satisfied with it. Only because you still have to deal with the “shakes” that can ruin your shot. I have been looking into a gimbal attachment for this because if I can find one, it would make my shots a lot smoother whether it is photo or video. Yes, you can use an editor to “stabilize” the video but that’s an afterthought, not a “during” thought. Looking forward to your videos.
