Last night my family and I had the opportunity to screen Disney Pixar’s Coco. Having spent several years in Mexico for the Day of the Dead holiday, I was eager to see the story unfold in full Pixar form, especially since I had just returned from the festival in Mexico with my son. We attended the yellow carpet for this at the brand new Studio Movie Grill in Marietta, GA where we had th3 chance to experience dinner and a movie. This is my Coco review at the Studio Movie Grill.

Miguel finds himself in the vibrant and colorful Land of the Dead after a mysterious chain of events. It is here where he meets the trickster Hector. Together, they set off on an intrepid journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

My Coco Review

Having already been fortunate enough to experience the Day of the Dead holiday in Mexico I was happy to see that Disney/Pixar nailed the adaptation. It was pretty spot on with regard to real-life details and festivities. The story itself was absolutely incredible. It brought tears to the eyes of most viewers around me. I felt that it was an exceptional representation of the culture behind the holiday and overall it was a very beautiful story.

The animation was indescribably mesmerizing, but when you put the story to the vibrant colors and fun characters of Coco, you get a powerful film that hits you from all angles. I think this is Pixar’s most beautiful story yet. It made me think a lot about the way we remember our loved ones and how important it is to keep our family alive, even in death. It also made me think of the importance of embracing your kids’ passions and never stifling them. My nine-year-old son loved it and spent the entire car ride home talking about it. This is one that you’ll want to own when it becomes available.

Our Take on Studio Movie Grill in Marietta

Studio Movie Grill Marietta

The Studio Movie Grill in Marietta, GA is brand new. We spent some time before the film having appetizers and wine in the lounge area. I loved the design elements. Having good food and drinks available for films is a huge plus for me. I can’t stand movie theater food, so this was a nice treat. We had dinner in the theater where we sat in nice reclining seats. Overall I would highly recommend a visit to Studio Movie Grill for any film. You can catch Coco there now.
