The sequel to Alice in Wonderland, ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ film locations are few. Mostly shot at Shepperton Studios, the mega sound stage based outside of London in the United Kingdom, Alice in Wonderland 2 did add to the 2010 Alice in Wonderland film locations when they chose Gloucester. As The most anticipated fantasy film this summer, it’s no surprise they chose a town known for its “other worldliness” or can we say “its muchness”.
Opens everywhere May 27th 2016!
Four years ago (2010), Tim Burton brought us into a visually stunning world of animation and film with Alice in Wonderland. In my mind a perfect move for the directive talents of Tim Burton. There is with no doubt, any other director who could have nailed Wonderland so flawlessly. I’m eager to see what Director James Bobin has in store for us. Anticipation for Alice Through the Looking Glass is teeming! As most the film destination for the (2010) Alice in Wonderland was set in Cornwall, England, I’m excited to see how Gloucester adds to the franchise.

Antony House
The Antony House opens the film just before Alice dives into the infamous rabbit hole. The early 18th-century house was built for Sir William Carew between 1711 and 1721 and has continued as the primary residence of the Carew family. The family has owned the estate since the mid-16th century. The house and gardens are open to viewing by the public between March and October.
Charlestown Harbor, Cornwall, England UK
The Charlestown Harbor in Cornwall, England, UK borders the fishing village of Charlestown. It’s really just a fishing village.
2016 Alice in Wonderland 2 Film Location Gloucester, England
Gloucester is known by most residents of the U.K. as “the witchy place”. Known for legends of sorcery, historic accounts of witchcraft and even current pagan festivals, there’s no doubt magic lives in Gloucester. What also lives in Gloucester is England’s most well-preserved Victorian Port. Described by Charles Dickens himself as ‘extraordinary’, and granted Royal Port Status by Queen Elizabeth I in 1580, it thrives with shopping, dining and now the magic of Alice Through the Looking Glass.
The Gloucester Docks
Tall ships sailed into port in Gloucester to create the scene for Alice in Wonderland 2, one of which was named “The Wonder”. You can spend a day here and get photos where the scenes were shot.

I didn’t like the first Alice in Wonderland movie so I wonder how I’ll like this one. Regardless of the movie, these film locations look pretty cool in real life.
There are so many magical places like this in England. I always laugh at my UK friends when they say England is boring. It’s the kind of place I want to spend weeks in.
I wasn’t the big fan of the first movie either but I just can’t resist something when Stephen Fry is in it! (He makes me laugh everytime on his show “QI”) so I’ll have to give it a try!
I like old fashion settings like this, England has kept so many old fashion houses that makes every street a beautiful fairytail!
You know I always loved the abstract story of Alice in Wonderland. Being a huge fan of Tim Burton, I simply fell in love with the movie. I do hear that some people didn’t like it though, I think the appreciation lies in the art of it. The setting is stunning and yes, England is full of places like this. I drove 4 hours through England from Manchester to Nottingham once and it was just a trail of storybook villages wrapped in ivy…it seemed like a fairytale at each bend.
I agree with Adelina in that I am not sure that I liked the first movie – but this one looks like it could be worth my spare Mommy time to watch.
I’m hope you get to see it. I am interested to see where the movie takes us next!
I wasn’t too fond of the first movie either or maybe it just didn’t live up to my expectations. This one looks promising and a bit more interesting though. Wow, that Antony house is beautiful. I love the English countryside and seeing this film’s locations would make for a fun trip.
My gosh, everyone says that! LOL. Well, I hope everyone loves the next one. Yeah it would be totally sweet to say you checked out the Alice in Wonderland film locations. A definite England add.
In addition the gorgeous location, I’m really impressed by the voice over cast. Michael Sheen and Stephen Fry are such great talents and I’m sure they’ll be a big part of the movie’s success. Looking forward to the film!
I couldn’t agree with you more on this. Very excited to hear them!
This looks very promising! I’m a huge admirer of Lewis Carrol’s work and was so thrilled to find your blog, being a fellow lover of fairy tales and lore. Living in a futuristic Middle Eastern country I had really been missing out on places such as this. But I hear the new literary festival in the UAE is going to be themed around Alice in Wonderland and the guest list includes the likes of Philip Pullman!
No way Philip Pullman! That’s perfect! I love it!
