After a whirlwind weekend with Walt Disney Pictures, I finally had the chance to sit down and watch the Zootopia Blu-ray bonus material. It was a much-needed destressing technique after the Alice Through the Looking Glass premiere, interview with filmmakers and talent and of course my day at Disney Toon Studios, where I interviewed the filmmakersanimators and talent from Zootopia.

I was so ready for the Zootopia Blu-ray bonus material, I can’t even put that into words.

If you haven’t already heard, let me be the first to tell you that Zootopia was truly incredible. The message, the animation and the humor was refreshing. Take my word for it, you should get the Blu-ray. But before you do, here’s my review of the Zootopia Blu-ray bonus material.

Zootopia Blu-ray Bonus Material Review

I love that the Zootopia Blu-ray bonus material is all about music. My son is really getting into guitar these days and often finds it challenging to push through. Kids want instant gratification, and when you’re 7 yrs old, it’s hard to see the payoff.

Watching the bonus material with my son really helped him understand the different things you can do with music as a career.

Scoretopia

Scoretopia brought me back to the Silly Symphony of D23.  Seeing talented musicians together in the studio transform live music into a film’s emotional transcript was interesting. I always get kicks out of watching the work that goes into this. I man, a film would be so lacking if it weren’t for its score, yet so many people overlook it and let it just blend into the scene.

Ever since seeing the Silly Symphony live, I find myself really listening to the background music, especially in Disney films.

Try Everything Music Video

Shakira is flawless as always in her Zootopia music video. It’s an upbeat song which delivers a hopeful message of promise and exploration. I think it’s a great song for kids, especially ones who are nervous to try new things.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the song:

Birds don’t just fly, they fall down and get up
Nobody learns without getting it wrong

I won’t give up, no I won’t give in
‘Til I reach the end and then I’ll start again
No I won’t leave, I wanna try everything

I wanna try even though I could fail
I won’t give up, no I won’t give in
‘Til I reach the end and then I’ll start again

Seriously though, supercharge on the positive vibes from this one!

So go check out the Zootopia Blu-ray bonus material, it’s in stores now, and be sure to check out my posts on interviews and special experiences from Disney Toon Studios!
