When Beauty and the Beast Disney started doing their live-action film remakes, I literally couldn’t contain my excitement. As a girl, I dreamed of existing in the world of some of my favourite characters, most notably princesses. I’ll never forget when I saw Disney’s Live-Action Cinderella in theaters.
I was simply blown away by how they brought the magic of the animated classic to life on the big screen. We got word last year that the next princess live-action film would be arriving in 2017 – Beauty and the Beast. While the wait isn’t quite over, today we finally get a sneak peak at just how lovely and amazing this movie is going to be.
Beauty and the Beast Teaser Trailer
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs.
“Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Just hearing the music alone gave me chills! To see how Disney perfectly transformed the Beast’s castle from it’s animated state to such an ornate and breathtaking place is simply amazing. We even get our first glimpse of the famed rose and heard some of the most notable characters in the castle.
My favorite part of the trailer however, is seeing Emma Watson arrive and hearing her speak as Belle. When I imagine a real-life Belle, Watson is exactly who I picture and I know she’s going to blow us all away in this role.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing more from this film over the next 10 months as we get official trailers, posters, images, and more for Beauty and the Beast. The movie arrives in US theaters on March 17, 2017, so be sure to check back with us for the latest updates.
