Museums

There are museums all over the world, there may even be one in your own city. So why go to Valencia to see the museums? One reason is the variety!

Valencia has over 30 museums to choose from, so no matter what your taste is you can find a museum that suits you. If you have a passion for art there are three must see museums in Valencia that are guaranteed to have you inspired.

The first is IVAM- Valencian Institute of Modern Art Center Julio González which has modern and contemporary art. Another amazing art museum is The Bombas Gens Centre d’Art.

This museum focuses on Art Deco style work from all over the world. There is also a restaurant in the same area here to make stopping for nourishment convenient.

The last must see art museum is The Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia. The art and the building are older than the prior museums as they date back to the 1600’s! If you are an art history buff, this is the place for you!

There are so many more museums such as the silk museum, the Science museum, or for something a little different visit the Museo Taurino (Bullfighting Museum). You are bound to find one that will have you enthralled.

Valencia’s Beautiful Beaches

With Valencia being the third biggest city in Spain you might not know that it is home to some of Spain’s most beautiful beaches. Playa La Granadella is tucked away between pine trees, if you are looking for a secluded beach then this is one of the best things to do in Valencia.

With its clear blue water and a plethora of marine life, the Playa La Granadella is the perfect spot for snorkeling or scuba diving. Another great beach Valencia has to offer is the Devesa beach which is located within the Albufera Natural Park.

Its golden sandy beach runs just under 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) long so you should be able to find a spot to soak in the sun.

The València Aquarium Oceanografic

The València Aquarium Oceanografic is not just an ordinary aquarium it is the largest in Europe. It is home to 500 different species and 45,000 living creatures.

The great thing about the Valencia Aquarium Oceanografic is that it is dedicated to raising awareness about the protection of its flora and fauna as well as making it a mission to educate the public about marine life. This makes it not only one of the most fun things to do in Valencia but also educational.

The aquarium is made up of ten areas that are dedicated to different oceans and seas, these include the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical, Oceans, Antarctic, Arctic, Islands, the Red Sea/Underwater Auditorium, Underwater Restaurant, and the Dolphinarium.

With so much to see you might want to take one of Valencia’s tours, this way you can get a more in-depth look into the marine life.

Bioparc València

The Bioparc València, or as we say in the states, Zoo has 150 species of African animals from the small meerkats to the large elephants. They have four main areas representing the different climates of Africa along with an indoor restaurant so you can recharge before exploring more.

This is not your typical thing to do in Valencia. The bioparc has made the barriers practically invisible so you feel as though you are getting the true African safari experience.

Their mission is to highlight the importance of preserving these animals and they hope to expand the Bioparc with an Asian and American habitat in the future.

The Bioparc is open year round but the hours vary based on the month you visit. Be sure to check the website first where you can buy your tickets in advance.
