Getting a Travel Visa Easily

What Exactly is a Visa?

A visa, or travel permit, is a document that allows a person to enter a certain country for a specific period of time, in order to work, study, or even for tourism purposes.

In many countries, and in order to facilitate the entry and exit of people, visas are no longer a paper document, but rather an electronic authorization with which it is possible to stay in that territory for a limited period of time: one month or up to six months.

In the European Union, the 27 member countries have no internal borders, so a visa is not necessary, not even a passport to travel, for example, from Austria to France. In turn, many of these countries have agreements with other countries around the world to facilitate this ease of movement.

How Long Does it Take to Get a Visa?

The first step to obtaining a travel visa easily, which is essential for traveling to other countries, is to consult the embassy or consulate of the country you are going to visit or to look for the same information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The information is usually very clear, leaving no doubts about the steps to be taken. However, in addition to applying in the traditional way, there are other ways you can directly apply for a visa by following the necessary procedures online.

There are web portals in which the cost of the visa is specified and the time you can remain in the country is also indicated, as well as when you must leave the country and the validity of the visa document.

Therefore, the answer to the question of how long it takes to obtain a visa will depend on where you are traveling to, how long you want to stay in the country, and the reason for your trip.

What Are the Most Common Types of Visas in the Schengen Area?

Each country in the world imposes a series of regulations for the entry of foreign citizens into its territory. However, many of them are grouped in common areas, as is the case of Schengen, which includes most of the European countries.

In this case, visas are divided into those for tourists, which allow them to stay in the country in question for a period of 90 days; those for educational or studying purposes, also valid for the same period of time; or those with a longer duration for work reasons.

In the latter case, it will not be possible to obtain a quick travel visa, since the corresponding permits will have to be processed with the authorities of each country, and here the criteria required may be very different.

How Do You Know Which Countries You Can Travel to Currently?

The requirements imposed by each country to allow the entry of foreign citizens depend on the agreements that have been reached between those countries. More developed countries have powerful passport programs with which it is possible to enter other territories without a separate visa or with the simple formula of electronic authorization.

It often happens that, depending on the length of stay and the purpose of the trip, it is not necessary to obtain the actual visa document. The electronic authorization is enough. However, when this happens, it is necessary to prove the reason for your travel.

In addition to all this, there are the new current restrictions that one must be aware of. In the case of the United States, the State Department currently recommends not to travel to 80% of the countries in the world due to the health risks involved.

Until recently, the list was only made up of 34 countries, but it has now been extended to 130. Thus, 80% of the world’s countries are considered high risk and are labeled “Best Not to Visit.”

Areas labeled “Do Not Travel” are the most restrictive of all. Some countries are not considered to be a health risk to visit. As of now, Taiwan and Bhutan are included in this category.

It may still take a few months for international travel to return to normal. This will depend to a large extent on the progress of preventative health measures over a large part of the planet, not just in the most powerful countries.

Thereafter, international travel will regain a normal pace and the issue of obtaining a travel visa easily and quickly will once again become of interest.
