Why You Should Visit Orlando, Florida
It can be expensive visiting Disney World, especially if you decide to stay in one of the resort hotels, but it is possible to save money. To do this, travel out of season and buy your park tickets in advance.
There are big savings to be had by booking attraction passes that give you entry to all the main theme parks, including Walt Disney World.
Orlando Theme Parks
As well as Walt Disney World, Orlando boasts plenty of other world-class theme parks. A week just isn’t long enough to take in all the high-octane rides and attractions on offer. Universal Studios is packed with fun rides and exhibits.
You can explore film sets and test your nerves on the latest rides, which include Harry Potter and the Escape from the Gringotts, The Simpsons Ride, and Revenge of the Mummy.
Other top theme parks include Volcano Bay, SeaWorld, and Islands of Adventure. Don’t forget that even if you have visited Orlando before, there are always new rides and attractions being developed, so there is always something new to look forward to.
Volcano Bay is a good example of a brand-new theme park that’s already attracting lots of great reviews.
Orlando offers amazing weather all year round. Whether you visit Orlando, Florida in summer or winter, you can look forward to sunshine and endless blue skies.
August is the wettest month of the year, with around 14 days of rain, but with temperatures in the 90’s, you won’t be cold. Winter is the best time to visit, as it’s in the 70’s, but rainfall is low.
It can get cool on a night, but most hotels and motels have heated outdoor pools, so you can still swim and have fun.
Thanks to the great weather, Orlando is very much a beach destination all year. Chill out in between theme park visits and you can look forward to a super relaxing vacation.
One of the main reasons why Orlando is such a fantastic travel destination is that it is home to Walt Disney World. Who doesn’t love Mickey Mouse and all his pals? Kids of all ages (and adults) love to come to Disney and meet their favorite Disney characters.
Disney World is an iconic part of the Orlando landscape and you can’t make a trip here without spending at least one day in the park.
Dine Out Every Night
Orlando is famous for its dining options. You will find every type of cuisine imaginable in Orlando, from fast-food restaurants to specialty restaurants serving Cajun food and BBQ.
Head over to the City Walk at Universal Studios and be inspired by one of the many food outlets. If you fancy Italian or steak, tuck in, you won’t be disappointed.
The top restaurants in Orlando as rated by TripAdvisor visitors include NYPD Pizza, Keke’s Breakfast Café, and Kres Chophouse. Visit these three food outlets and you can tuck into pizza, American comfort food, and steak.
What a marvelous combination!
Orlando Loves Kids and Kids Love Orlando
Kids are always welcome in Orlando. The city is geared up for families and kids are always welcome in the restaurants, attractions, hotels, and theme parks. There is so much for kids to see and do that they won’t be bored.
Many of the kid-friendly attractions are indoors, so even if it is raining, you don’t have to endure any “I’m bored” conversations.
Even teenagers will love a trip to Orlando. Teenagers are notoriously tricky to entertain, as they have big ideas and love to spend lots of money. Well, there isn’t a teenager on earth who can’t fail to be entertained by a trip to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or Volcano World.
And for those teenagers who hate theme parks, well, there are plenty of other attractions, including the beach and local wildlife.
Great Shopping Opportunities
Who doesn’t love to shop when they are on vacation? If you visit Orlando, you will have no shortage of stores to shop in. Naturally, you will want to pick up a few souvenirs when you visit Walt Disney World, as who doesn’t need a few Mickey Mouse sweatshirts and t-shirts?
There are also lots of great shopping malls too. Visit the Orlando Premium Outlets on International Drive and pick up some new clothes. Head over to the Florida Mall and shop for your favorite high-street brands, including Guess and Kenneth Cole Company.
The Millennia Mall is a bit more upmarket but well worth a visit. Just remember to take your credit cards along for the trip so that you can splurge on some lovely gifts for you and the family.
Make Friends with the Local Wildlife
Orlando has more to offer than incredible theme parks. It is home to some wonderful wildlife including alligators and manatees. Take the family to the SeaWorld Aquarium and get up close and personal with some of the area’s marine creatures.
Gator Land is the place to go if you want to meet an alligator without losing a limb or three. There are also crocodiles at Gator Land, so this is a useful opportunity to learn the differences between these two impressive creatures.
Younger kids will probably want to visit Dinosaur World, even though dinosaurs are technically not classed as local wildlife. You can dig for fossils and meet some cute and not so cute dinosaurs. It’s a bit like being in Jurassic Park, minus the scary predators!
If you want to experience the local wildlife in a more natural setting, take a trip to Blue Springs State Park. You can go camping, fishing, and hiking. Visit over winter and you might be lucky enough to spot some elusive manatees basking in the mild waters.
Other wildlife attractions include The Giraffe Ranch, Brevard Zoo, Discovery Cove, and Westgate River Ranch Rodeo.
Enjoy the Nightlife
Couples and families with older kids will find plenty of great nightlife to keep them entertained. Orlando has hundreds of bars and nightspots. Book a dinner show and then head over to International Drive and check out the lively bar scene.
The ICEBAR bar and lounge has a bar carved from solid ice, which is very funky. Mango’s Tropical Café nightclub also has a funky vibe and is popular with locals and visitors.
