MegaCon Tampa Bay

MegaCon Tampa Bay by Fan Expo Coming to Tampa, FL for the First Time

This year was my first time attending MegaCon in Orlando, FL. It’s jokingly called the Beast of the Southeast and I totally get why. It’s a huge convention filled with so much awesomeness that you really do need all 4 days to take it all in. This year, Fan Expo announced the first ever MegaCon Tampa Bay, FL  and I am STOKED!

All About MegaCon Tampa Bay

MegaCon Tampa Bay, a multi-genre pop culture event, is set to take place at the Tampa Convention Center Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30, 2016. Celebrity guests David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones), Billie Piper (Doctor Who), William Shatner (Star Trek), Karl Urban (Star Trek), among others will welcome fans to a weekend filled with panels, shopping, workshops, costume contests and more.

“MegaCon has a history of bringing the ultimate fan experience to the Orlando area, and we’re excited to bring our multi-genre convention to Tampa Bay,” says Andrew Moyes, Show Director. “MegaCon Tampa Bay will be a family-friendly, action packed three-day event fit for fans of all pop culture categories.”

MegaCon Orlando, the Southeast’s largest comic, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming convention, welcomed over 100,000 people to the Orange County Convention Center on Memorial Day Weekend 2016. MegaCon Tampa Bay expects to welcome over 30,000 fans to the Tampa Convention Center as well as local vendors, cosplayers and celebrity guests throughout the Halloween weekend.

First off, all I can say is David Tennant! I’m a new, yet serious fangirl of Doctor Who and the fact that he’s headlining had me clamoring to get my ticket right away. MegaCon does it big and does it right and I know MegaCon Tampa Bay is going to be epic. Right now they’re still adding celebrity guests, animators, cosplayers, and more, but if it’s anything like MegaCon Orlando, then you definitely have to be there. Tickets are available here starting at $25. Be sure to check back with us for more updates and as always, keep it nerdy!
