We’ve said it over and over again, it’s an incredible time to be a Star Wars fan. With Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens still in theatres, we are already moving forward to Star Wars Episode 8 with the just-released production trailer which opens with the all too memorable scene that closed the record braking film last year.
Star Wars Episode 8 Announcement
Star Wars movies are hotter than ever. With the 2015 publicity of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s pretty safe to say Star Wars Episode 8 will be just as anticipated. The final scene cliffhanger leads us into the Skywalker family saga which is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
The trailer above takes us back to Ireland’s Skellig Michael where Luke Skywalker and Rey meet as she delivers his lightsaber. In a short (don’t blink) 34 seconds we are officially notified that Star Wars Episode 8 has begun.
A Star Wars site post lists the cast announcement welcoming back:
- Mark Hamill
- Daisy Ridley
- John Boyega
- Oscar Isaac
- Adam Driver
- Gwendoline Christie
- Lupita Nyong’o
- Domhnall Gleeson
- Andy Serkis
- Carrie Fisher
- Anthony Daniels
And welcome to the family:
- Benicio Del Toro
- Laura Dernand
- Kelly Marie Tran
It’s speculated that the absence of Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker may not mean the absence of Chewbacca and R2-D2. So we can hopefully see our favourite fur ball and robotic back on the screen for Star Wars Episode 8.
So begins the anticipation all over again of the next installment of Star Wars Movies (after Rouge One of course). I’m seriously wondering if the public will be as intense as it was last year. We can only sit back and watch it unravel. Till then, we’ll be flicking our bobblehead storm troopers and waving our smartphone light sabres.
