Game of Thrones New Location

The Alcázar of Seville

HBO Game of Thrones is really making its mark all over the globe, sending fans to destinations like Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland , Malta, Morocco, Scotland  and now, Spain. The Alcázar of Seville has officially been confirmed by the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and HBO’s former Vice President James Costos, as being the location for Game of Thrones Season 5 City of Dorne.

The Alcázar of Seville is slated to be used as the set of the lush Water Gardens of Dorne. The official release:

HBO is pleased to confirm that a portion of season five of GAME OF THRONES will be shot on several natural locations in the Province of Sevilla.  Specifics on the locations will be announced closer to the time of production. -John Costos

The Alcázar of Seville is a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site and is recognized as the oldest royal palace in Europe that is still in use. The setting here is perfectly exotic enough for the Game of Thrones series with lush jungle-like gardens, intricately crafted ornate walls and a commanding presence.

The Game of Thrones series is boasting plans to take the set globe-trotting in seasons to come. The Fairytale Traveler is gearing up for adventure to begin its official tour of the Game of Thrones film locations in October 2014. The tour begins with the Game of Thrones Season 1 location of Northern Ireland. Film locations by seasons are:

  2. Wow that’s awesome! I love that you listed all of the places that it was filmed. I’ve only seen season 1 so far (going to watch them all this summer!) and the scenery is always incredible!
