There are few things more enjoyable in life than a day spent soaking up the sun on the beach. Maybe you’re one of those fidgety people who get a little bored after an hour or so, but it’s easy to occupy yourself with water-sports, a walk along the shore, or losing yourself in a good book.
Put simply, the beach is the perfect place to wash away your cares for a few hours.
Luckily for us, there are some amazing beach resorts just a few hours away, and summer is the perfect time to jump on a plane and visit them. Bargains are starting to pop up all around us already, and it’s easy to grab a deal if you search hard enough, with the option of organising your travel and accommodation separately too, which I always find yields great value results.
The only downside to many summer flights is that they are often quite early in the day. Whilst this is good for getting to your resort and not wasting a precious day of your holiday, it does mean you have to get up at stupid o’clock to arrive for check-in. How can you get around this? Well, a night in an airport hotel could do just that, as well as giving you an extra night’s holiday too. Win-win! Generally speaking, there are a range of hotels at most large UK airports, including a fantastic selection of Dublin Airport hotels too, so wherever you’re flying from you’re sure to find something to suit your needs, meaning you don’t arrive at your destination bleary-eyed!
If you’re booking your holiday in a DIY fashion, i.e. booking everything separately, don’t forget to factor insurance into your plans. When booking a package you’re sure to get reminded of this fact, but DIY booking is a somewhat individual experience and it’s easy to forget. Never travel without insurance, it’s that simple, and always remember to declare any medical problems you may have now or in the past. Declaring your medical conditions for travel insurance will mean you’re totally covered in the event of a claim, with no nasty surprises.
If you’re planning on taking part in a few water-sports during your time away, do make sure that your insurance policy covers you for this, simply by reading the small print. It always pays to be sure!
Once you’re booked, and your countdown is on, it’s time to get beach shopping! Bikini, swimming trunks, good book, sun-cream, a hat, flip flops – shopping for summer is just so much more fun than shopping for winter!
